How long do you spend on twitter in a day?

Just doing a little market research for a blog post. Hoping to get lots of lovely stats so please feel free to retweet or comment below if you find your twitter use hard to quantify.

For some reason the polldaddy html code will not embed here so please follow the link.. http://poll.fm/1d143

This is a rather open question do you mean how much of the day am i logged into twitter with conversations floating around in the background, or do you mean how much of the day do i spend doing nothing but reading replying?

Its a bit like how much of the time do you spend chating in the office - i talk to colleagues all day long as i go about my day to day tasks but only spend 1/2 an hour a day actually in formal meetings.

So the answer would be 9 hours a day at work and 3 hours at home for logged in time about 1/2 an hour a day actually typing tweets or RT or DM's. may another 1/2 hour reading tweets in 1 minute sessions through out the day.

Hi David,

It certainly is difficult to quantify. I get asked this all the time so I threw some pointers here on the ambition forum.. http://getambition.ning.com/profiles/blogs/how-much-time-should-you-spend

I will often take a quick peak and nothing more.. this is only seconds. Other times I am engaged in over an hour catching up on what those in my networks are doing.

If i had to put a figure on it though, I have said around 3 hours a day.. I do not work in an office and constantly have a second screen open. I do see more and more people working like this though.

Cheers for the comment.

I'd agree with David, it's not a question I can easily answer. I have Seesmic running any time I'm on my computer, but I'm not reading/joining in conversation all of that time.

hard to quantify as you say... I am home 18hours and sleep 6 hours. Laptop on in farm kitchen all the time. some days when there is a conference being streamed I can be watching it and twitter 9am-5pm. Other days I just check at meal times. I look at the stream at brewtimes if I get chance. so, how many hours in total? hmm. would guess 8 on a busy day, or 1 if I am busy on farm. Never less than 1 hour catching up with all news and checking links. Never more than 8. Average about 2 hours, as it is my main means of finding out info about digitalbritain and my social life too... I will put 2 in the poll.
